HYPERHIDROSIS
Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating not related to heat or exercise.
Hyperhidrosis causes increased sweating without the usual stimuli of exercise, anxiety or rise in body temperature. It is related to overactive sweat glands and is most common in the axilla, palms of hands and soles of feet, but can affect the whole body.
Hyperhidrosis can be secondary to a number of medical conditions including thyroid disease, diabetes, infections and even menopause and certain medication. Due to this excluding an underlying cause for hyperhidrosis prior to embarking on a treatment journey is vital. Hyperhidrosis for which there is no underlying cause is called Primary Hyperhidrosis affect a large amount of the population. It can cause a person to feel embarrassed, uncomfortable and put a strain on a person’s social life.
